Wistron will build a new production plant in India, thus expanding the production of the iPhone in the country.
The new plant from 105 million dollars will be built near the technology centre Bengaluru. Currently, Wistron manufactures in India the iPhone IF sold in the country, but they could soon start the production of the iPhone 6s. With this move, Apple would sell the iPhone 6s in India at a price more advantageous, so as to widen the sphere of potential buyers.
After years of debate, the indian government and Apple have reached an agreement to allow the company to open new Apple Stores in India, prior to the start of production of the iPhone in the country. With this second plant, Wistron, Apple may soon expand its presence in the smartphone market in India, now stops at 3%.
