Willow: the sequel will be a series for Disney+?
After various rumors finally arrived more details about the long-awaited revival of the cult film of George Lucas, Willow.
Willow is a fantasy film of 1988 directed by Ron Howard, Warwick Davis, based on a story written by George Lucas and was presented out of competition at the 41st Cannes film Festival, winning the Hugo Award for best dramatic presentation in 1989, and the Saturn Award for best costumes in 1990.
Howard has appeared recently in the podcast Happy Sad Confused, and spoke of the new developments of the project, revealing important changes in the way in which the film could return: “There are some discussions really series with Jon Kasdan, who was one of the writers Only, who has continued to stalk me and Kathy Kennedy on Willow all the time of the shooting,” Howard said, “we are discussing the development of a television series, Buffy, Disney+. And I think that would be a great solution. In fact, George has always talked about the possibility of a series on Willow, and it would be great and more intimate to make it as it would be built around that character, and to some of the others...”
This is an important update given that Howard, while promoting Only: A Star Wars Story he had only said that he had started talking about Willow, but he refused to call it a sequel in itself; and of the rest there was still nothing concrete.
We'll see if Lucasfilm or Disney the same ufficializzeranno this time the development of the series.
