The duke and duchess of Cambridge competed in a regatta charity
William and Kate Middleton have attended a regatta to raise funds for eight of the charities of which they are patrons. The two of them were grappling with a hard-fought battle in the open sea, but, as often happens, were their children to steal the spotlight.
Each boat sailing in a regatta at the opening session of the King's Cup represented a charity. Kate has competed on the boat for the programme in the Early Years of the Royal Foundation, and William sailed on the boat that represents Child Bereavement UK.

The other charities represented in the race were Centrepoint, the Air Ambulance Charity in London, Tusk Trust, Action on Addiction, Place2Be and the national Center for children and families Anna Freud. Kate and Prince William have delighted real fans with their first appearance after their summer break. The duke and duchess are back from vacation to the Caribbean in time for the regatta of the King's Cup on the isle of Wight.

While their parents competed, Prince George, 6 years old, and a friend watched the competition from a boat, close under the watchful eye of his grandfather Michael Middleton. At some point during the race, he also wore a captain's hat, headgear that is well-suited to a future King.
