Vinland Saga 1×21: The Meeting | Review

Published on Dec 10, 2019

Without a shadow of a doubt, the last episode of the anime of Vinland Saga is one of the best and most intense of all of this before, exciting first season.

The plots and counter-plots are the real focus of this episode, even if the title itself is a reference to something else. Covering, however, two circumstances in distinct, will tell you all about short only of the second because is not a real spoiler, while with regard to the “meeting” which has as its protagonist a character different from Canute, I'll leave you to discover what it is, not to take away from the taste of it.

As we already know from a little bit of time, king won the fight I of Denmark has the intention to kill his younger son Canute to ascend to the throne his eldest son, towards which feeds more esteem and respect.

When Canute, Killed, Thorfinn, Thorkell, and the other Vikings now in the retinue of the young prince come to York, they already know that the next day there will be a “meeting” with the king, and this means that in that moment the life of the young noble will certainly be in danger.

You have to expect really, but perhaps the most plausible to make an attempt on the life of Canute may not be this “meeting”: what would happen if someone tried to kill the prince at another time?

We have learned to know quite well Killed: physically strong and skillful on the field of battle, shrewd and far-sighted and out of it, Given it is really the warrior and the advisor to perfect, and Canute can think of to be really very lucky to have on his side rather than against him.

In this intense episode, Given to prove once again how far they can push his great capacity for lucid analysis, its calculations, its machinations and its forecasts of what will happen in the near future.

Now, however, all that remains is to wait to see if all this will turn into reality or whether, instead, there will be some unexpected event that marked the death sentence of prince Canute.

The attitude and feelings of the Year vis-à-vis Crown (and vice versa) have always been conflicting: on the one hand the guy is burning for the desire to avenge the death of his father by killing his murderer with the dagger from him and given to him, on the other, it seems that, in some way, take time.

We know that Thorfinn has already had much more of a chance to take out the Crown and put an end to his torment (but will it really be so?), but every time there was something that prevented him to do so.

It is not yet clear whether, in the light of all the battles and the time spent together, this desire for revenge is gradually fading, since the Year is not lost, however, never to threaten with death the murderer of his father.

Still, the fact that I have not yet tried seriously to kill Killed raises doubts about its real intentions. However, for the moment, the guy don't give up yet to its revenge.

That said, towards the end of the episode will be yet another great shot of the scene: a character we are already very well known will again make its appearance and will have something very important to say to the Crown.

What you will see will be over that unexpected, really very touching, in yet another demonstration (as if any were needed) of how important is the space reserved to the feelings inside of the original manga with historical background written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura.

The entire first season of Vinland Saga is distributed here by us in Italy by Amazon Prime Video. The new episodes will be available starting from Monday.
