Close by the return to the DC Universe of the series, interviewed by Comicbook, the showrunner of the Titans Greg Walker has explained how they will be handled many iconic characters (between the old and the new additions) in this second season.

“We have a cast of a thousand people, all serve for the purposes of the plots, it was a challenge to find and interesting,” explains Walker, “The four main heroes are definitely in the center, but then there is space for Jason Todd, Wonder Girl, and even Superboy and the other characters. It is combine it all together and then let them go each one to his own way, according to the plots that will form. I think there are narrative arcs interesting for everyone, including those who must deal with his own past, and who faces challenges or problems at present. There are a lot of stories for 13 episodes, you could only have 13 characters: everyone must follow his path and face their own challenges, and then return by the Titans, not to come back or return, seeing that the Titans are destroyed. And’ this, in short, the base from which we started”.

The showrunner also confirms the presence of Nightwing, also speaking of the Bruce Wayne of Iain Glen: “it's Going to arrive the moment in which Dick assumes the role of Nightwing, so if you want to see it I think you will be satisfied by the end of the year...Bruce is an important character for us last year, not seen but has always been omnipresent through Dick, we had to immerse ourselves in their report. I was very excited to be able to work as a screenwriter on Bruce, it's great with the cap but can really be bad as a person of the times. Our intent was to work on Bruce trying to restore and update the parent – child relationship that there is between the two”.

In the cast are Brenton Thwaites (Dick Grayson), Anna Diop (Koriand'r / Starfire), Teagan Croft (Rachel Roth / Raven), Ryan Potter (Garfield “Gar” Logan / Beast Boy), Alan Ritchson (Hank Hall / Hawk), Minka Kelly (Dawn Granger / Dove), Conor Leslie (Donna Troy/Wonder Girl), Seamus Dever (Trigon) and Rachel Nichols (Angela Azarath), along with the new faces of the Joshua Orpin (Connor Kent/Superboy, Esai Morales (Slade Wilson/Deathstroke) Chelsea Zhang (Rose Wilson/Ravager), Chella Man (Joseph Wilson/Jericho),Iain Glen (Bruce Wayne), Natalie Gumede (Mercy Graves), Drew Van Acker (Garth/Aqualad).

This is the synopsis of the premiere:

“The first episode of the second season follows the apocalyptic events of the end of last season. The father of Rachel, Trigon (guest star SEAMUS DEVER) has taken control of a Dick and is going to embrace their inner darkness to the other heroes. When all are under the control of Trigon, Rachel and Gar find themselves fighting what seems to be a battle without hope against the powers of Trigon.”

This, instead, the synopsis of the entire season:

“After the battle with Trigon, in the second season Dick Grayson is called to re-establish the Titans, under his supervision, in the new home (the Titans Tower), Rachel, Gar and Jason Todd are training together to hone their skills from the heroes and learn to work together as a team. They unite Hank Hall/Hawk and Dawn Granger/Dove, as well as Donna Troy/Wonder Girl. Even if these “old” the Titans have tried at all costs to have a normal life, when old enemies come back, should come together to address the old outstanding accounts. All together, the old and the new Titans (including Conner Kent, and Rose Wilson) can learn to coexist, but with the arrival of Deathstroke brings to light the dark past of the old members and threatens to tear apart forever the balance of the new family of Titans”.

The series will return to the DC Universe on September 6, while for the arrival on Netflix you will probably have to wait until the beginning of 2020 (the first season is currently available in streaming, has arrived on the platform in January 2019).
