Thor 4: Taika Waititi to write and direct the film
In November 2017, the Marvel Studios have given the Thor's Chris Hemsworth, a look, an atmosphere and a style entirely new, with the action-comedy Thor: Ragnarok. The adventure was an important turning point compared to the first two films in soloists of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the head of this tack was the writer/director Taika Waititi, who has given all hope for the franchise to Thor would be able to continue after Avengers: Endgame. Well, now Taika Waititi is back for another Thor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waititi has signed on to write and direct Thor 4 for Marvel Studios. No release date, of course, has been announced yet.
While this is certainly good news for fans of Marvel, fans of the anime will be less happy. The director should be directing the adaptation of the anime Akira, that should be distributed in theaters in 2021. However, due to various problems of Akira, including that of the screenplay, Waititi is back earlier than expected in the other Marvel movies. That said, the hope is that Waititi will return to Akira once he is finished with Thor.
If the production would overlap, this could mean that the fourth movie of Thor might arrive in the next two years. Given the immense popularity of Hemsworth and characters support, it would not be a surprise.
At this point, Hemsworth is expected to take the role of Thor for the new movie, making him the only actor in the MCU to have 4 movies from solo. All we can do is wait for the panel to Marvel Studios in San Diego for more details.
