The Throne of Swords: George R. R. Martin has a new idea for a spin-off

A brilliant mind and creative as that of George R. R. Martin, able to give life to the world of " a song of Ice and Fire, can out always new ideas, especially with respect to the possible spin-off de The Throne of Swords: in a recent interview with the New York Times, the author has revealed of his plans regarding a series entitled, Spear Carriers, and based on the minor characters of the HBO series and their lives, while the Lannister, Stark and the other families of Westeros, and they did not give battle.

“I have not been able to convince HBO that this is actually a good idea, but I would really like to achieve something like that. I wanted to do a series called " Spear Carriers, set during the events of Game of Thrones, but focused on the characters more ‘humble’, the secondary as a prostitute and brothels of Ditocorto, a boy of the city, or maybe a street artist. I think I would have been a lot of fun.”

If HBO was really the intriguing as it is extravagant project of Martin, the one of The Throne of Swords would not have been the first to do a sort of irony about himself: even Star Wars, with the comic book Tag & Bink Are Dead, he has accomplished something of the kind, and Star Trek was very close to irony in comedy animated Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Waiting to see if indeed there will be a spin-off “fun” of the franchise, HBO is already working on a series prequel set thousands of years before. This is the first synopsis:

The series will tell the happened thousands of years before the events of the original series and the series will tell the story of the descent of the world from the golden age of Heroes to its darkest hour. And only one thing is certain: the horrific secrets of the history of Westeros to the mysteries of the East, to the Stark... is not the story we think we know...

In the cast of the spin-off, currently identified under The title The Long Night, Josh Whitehouse, and actress academy award nominee Naomi Watts); her character is described as “a woman of the charismatic aristocrat who hides dark secrets”, to understand how the Watts will go on to interpret a woman member of one of the most important families. The details, however, remain insufficient to determine the actual role of the actress, she was nominated for a BAFTA, the Screen Actors Guild Award and academy Award for best actress for her performance in the drama 21 grams.

These above are the words of George R. R. Martin on the situation of the various spin-off from the world he created and brought to television by HBO:

“Yes, this is a prequel, not a sequel. None of the characters or actors of the current series will appear in the new show. All of the projects in the program that we have developed are the prequel, as I have already said. This, however, is a sort of pre-prequel, since it is not set ninety years before GAME OF THRONES (as The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) or a few hundred years, but rather ten thousand years (well, assuming that the oral histories of the First Men to be precise, we are masters of the Citadel who keep saying how it is duration half). We are at the beginning of the production, obviously, with the orders of the pilot you just made, therefore we do not have a director, a cast, a location, or even a title. (My vote would be for The Long Night, that says it all, but it wouldn't surprise me if the fine really there. I think that HBO wants to turn around a title in Game of Thrones, more or less).

As for the other spin-off... if you are up to date with the news, you know that we started with four projects and in the end we arrived at five. One of these was set aside, as I understand it, in addition to the pilot of Jane, who is headed toward the shooting. But this does not mean that the others are dead. The other three prequels to Game of Thrones, set in different eras and with characters and storylines different, remains largely in the development phase. Everything that I was told makes me say that we may soon be filming at least one other pilot, and maybe more than one, in the years to come. After all, we have an entire world and tens of thousands of years of history can tell and deepen. But with the world of television, you know, nothing is certain.”

The eighth and final season de of thrones will air on HBO starting next April.

Every battle.
Every betrayal.
Every the risk.
Every fight.
Every sacrifice.
Every death.
All #ForTheThrone.
