After so much buzz, it's finally been given the official CBS to produce a tv series based on the critically acclaimed novel by Stephen King The shadow of the scorpion (The Sand), ordered ten episodes for the first season. Josh Boone (the Fault of the Stars) and Ben Cavell (SEAL Team) took care of the supervision of the series, with direction entrusted to the same Boone.

“I read the novel under my bed at the age of 12 years, when they found out my parents have burnt the book in the fireplace” has revealed to Boone. “I, for my part, I sent away a letter to King expressing all my love for his work. Several weeks later, I came back home and I found a package arrived from Maine, which contains different books, each with a dedication to what I considered as a God, which encouraged me to write and thanking me for my support. My parents, sincerely touched by the kindness and generosity of the King, they took out the prohibition to read his books immediately. I have written to the King for him to do a cameo in my first film and I worked to bring to the big screen, The shadow of the scorpion for five years. I found the partner of absolute value as the CBS All Access and Ben Cavell to achieve this adaptation. With Stephen King, Owen King, my historical colleagues Knate Lee and Jill Killington, I plan to bring a definitive version of this wonderful masterpiece.”

Also the same Stephen King has expressed his satisfaction at the announcement of the series: “I Am delighted that The shadow of the scorpion will have a new life through an exciting format as that of the television series. All of the men and women working on the project know what they need to do, the scripts are explosive. The result promises to be something exciting and memorable and will bring the audience into a world in which you never would have expected to be able to enter”.

The shadow of the scorpion (The Stand), written by King in 1978, carries out the setting is already developed in the Undertow night by recounting a clash between human factions in a post-apocalyptic future. In this scenario, the last people left from the right, will have to face with the evil figure of Randall Flagg, the villain par excellence, created by King that will appear later, even in the eyes of The dragon and in the saga of The Black Tower.
