The new water resistance test for the iPhone 11, and iPhone 11 Pro [Video]

CNET has teamed up with Sofar Ocean Technologies, using his drone and underwater Trident to bring an iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro below the surface of the waters of Monterey Bay, California.

According to the Apple website, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro max can drop up to 4 meters of depth for 30 minutes, while the iPhone 11 can reach only up to 2 meters:

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are resistant to splashes of water and dust and has been tested in the laboratory; iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have a degree of protection IP68 according to IEC 60529 (maximum depth of 4 metres for up to 30 minutes) and iPhone 11 have a degree of protection IP68 according to IEC 60529 (maximum depth of 2 meters for up to 30 minutes ). The slag resistance, water and dust is not a permanent condition, and the resistance may decrease due to normal wear and tear.

With these data, CNET has tested the new iPhone 3 -, 4 -, 8 -, and 12 feet deep, with some of the results are rather interesting. 4 meters for 30 minutes, both phones were working perfectly, screen in working order, and no fogging of the camera. The only obvious problem was the speaker, who seemed to be full of water on both devices, the iPhone, 11 more than the Pro.

To 8 meters, the same story. Both phones are out of the water with the touchscreen working, cameras in working order, and a certain distortion of the speakers.

The final test to 12 metres marks the maximum exposure to the water over the rate of waterproofing advertised. However, both phones have emerged unscathed, except for the speakers. CNET also notes that 3 days after that, both phones worked perfectly and the speakers you felt were beginning to feel better.

This video seems to show that the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro are much more water-resistant than advertised.
