The major costs for the internet radio free
Good news for Apple and its music service streaming: the federal Copyright Royalty Board decided that internet radio like Pandora have to pay the rates of royalties are higher for artists and labels than is the case today.
From next year, Pandora and other internet radio in the United States will have to pay 17 cents for every 100 reproductions of a song on the versions free of their services. This revenue will increase in the next four years, in line with the inflation index. For the internet radio with the paid service, also offered by Pandora, the royalties went from 25 to 22 cents for every 100 copies of the individual songs.
In any case, this decision puts even more into crisis, all those services of music streaming based on advertising, since a part is always less artists are willing to offer their songs to those users who do not pay a subscription, and on the other, are slowly increasing cost.
Winners will be those services that are only paid as the Apple Music, which already has 6.5 million paying subscribers.
