Not yet released in cinemas, the Joker, Todd Phillipps has been a huge critical success, much to win the Golden Lion in Venice. Despite the success, however, the director excludes the use of “his” version of the Clown of Crime, played by Joaquin Phoenix, in the shared universe DC.

“No, certainly not meet the Batman of Robert Pattinson,” the director explains to Variety, “there will certainly be other interpretation of the Joker, as that of Jared Leto. For us, making films about comics is a bit like Shakespeare's Hamlet: there will always be new versions with new actors”.

“Joker” is centered on the figure of the iconic villain and is a standalone original, different from any other movie inspired by the comics that appeared on the big screen until now. The exploration of the Phillips Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man deeply troubled and ignored by the company, there is only one study, raw and fascinating character, but a larger story that aims to leave a teaching, an admonition.
The three-times nominated for the Oscar® Joaquin Phoenix (“The Master”, “When love burns your soul”, “The Gladiator”) is the protagonist of the film alongside Oscar® winner Robert De Niro (“raging Bull,” “The Godfather, Part II”) in the role of Franklin. Are part of the cast also Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Frances Conroy (TV series) “American Horror Story”, “Castle Rock” of Hulu), Marc Maron (the TV series “Maron”, “GLOW”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow”, ” Molly's Game”), Glenn Fleshler (the TV series “Billions”, “Barry”), Shea Whigham (“First Man – The first man”, “Kong: Skull Island”), Brett Cullen (“42 – The true story of an american legend”, the “Narcos” for Netflix), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow”, “Penny Dreadful” on TV) and Josh Pais (the upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn”, “Unsuspected " suspicious”).
The Oscar-nominated® Phillips, “Borat”, the trilogy “the hangover”) directs the film from a screenplay that he wrote together with the author's candidate for the Oscar® Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), based on the characters of DC.

The film is expected in cinemas on 3 October.
