The Call of Cthulhu follows the investigations of Francis Wayland Thurston on the strange activities of a group of people similar to a cult that seems to worship an eternal being known as Cthulhu: a divine entity that sleeps in the seas, ready to awaken and bring about the destruction.

Gou Tanabe has previously adapted other Lovecraft tales, the last of which was The Shadow Coming from the Time that it was concluded last November in the pages of Comic Beam.

In Italy, J-POP has published his adaptations of The Hound and Other Stories, The Inhabitant of the Dark, The Color Came from Space and at The Mountains of Madness.
