The Black Klansman: Spike Lee will direct a thriller about the Ku Klux Klan
The Hollywood Reporter announced that Spike Lee and Jordan Peele ("Get Out – run away) I'm working on the Black Klansman, the film adaptation of the memoirs of detective african american infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan.
John David Washington (Ballers), the son of Denzel Washington, is in talks for the starring role in the thriller criminal drama.
Lee will direct and produce the film with Peele to the production through his Monkeypaw Productions, with Sean McKittrick, Shaun Redick, Raymond Mansfield QC Entertainment and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions.
The Black Klansman tells the story of Ron Stallworth, a detective in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1978, responded to the announcement of a local newspaper in search of new members of the Ku Klux Klan. Not only he became a member, but also the chief of the local section. Stallworth, who is black, was able to gather information by pretending to be a supremacist white on the phone, or other forms of correspondence, sending a colleague white his place in the public meetings. While working under cover, Stallworth sabotage many events and other activities of the well-known racist group.
Stallworth has shared his experience in a book of 2014 called Black Klansman. The screenplay based on the autobiographical work of Stallworth is written by Charlie Watchtel, David Rabinowitz, Spike Lee and Kevin Willmont.
