Tablet, notebook, smartphone: even Google thinks a folding
Also Google is working on, or at least has worked, his idea of flexible device with a flexible display. A patent published a few days ago in the USA imagine a multiuse product that can be configured - like tablet, laptop, or smartphone, plus the mode between "tent-like", based on the angle of the crease that forms between the two halves. The document focuses on various solutions and technologies for the production hinges, not only stable enough to keep the angles requested by the user, but also able to communicate its value to the operating system, so that it can adapt the interface accordingly.
An interesting detail is that the inventor is Wen Shan Lin, who previously was an employee of HTC; Google has bought the vast majority of the division smartphone of the taiwanese manufacturer, for a total of about 2,000 people, a couple of years ago.
For now, Google has remained very aloof in the matter of the flexible display, leaving other manufacturers, such as Samsung, Huawei and Motorola (and in fact, yes, technically also Royole), the burden of going forth, while providing essential support-side software, optimizing Android to the new technology.
