Stan Lee: petition to dedicate a statue in New York
After his death last November, in fact, the fans have started to launch online campaigns in an effort to convince the city of New York to commission a commemorative statue of The Smiling.
A group of fans has launched a petition on Change.org in the hope of attracting the attention of the authorities of the city. Born in Manhattan on December 28, 1922, New York City has been the home of Lee and his wife, Joan, until their transfer to Los Angeles in the early ’80s.
“I'm starting this petition,” says promoter David Gourlay on the page of the petition, “because I appreciated and respected his work, like many others in the course of the years, and I think that a statue in his honor would be the right way to keep alive his memory.”
Lee died on 12 November at the age of 95, shortly after that his wife, Joan, had died because of complications of a heart attack. The last cameo of Lee on the big screen is coming with Avengers: Endgame.
