Spotify launches the function “group Session” for sharing music in real-time

Spotify is offering Premium users a new feature that will allow them to listen to music in real-time with others and sharing in the control of reproduction.

Particularly useful during the pandemic, “group Session” is now available as a beta feature for Premium subscribers to connect with friends and family through music.

Group session work with codes scannable. The host loads a code in the app which can be scanned by anyone who wants to join the group. Once you have shared the code, the host, along with guests who have scanned the code, you can then play, pause, skip and select your music. Guests can also add songs to a playlist and these will update automatically on all your devices. The sessions will end automatically after one hour of inactivity.

Spotify says that it “will continue to evolve the experience over time based on the feedback of the users and, at the moment, there seems to be a limit to how many people a host can add to the group.
