Sony ZG9: Android TV 8K with HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision, and processor X1 Ultimate
Sony has announced the TV 8K (7680 x 4320 pixels) series ZG9 at CES 2019. The new products are part of the Master Series, and are therefore in the higher-end. This family of devices, launched last year, has been developed to offer performance in line with those of the professional monitors used in studies of production. The tvs Master Series provide additional tools for the calibration of the panels. They also have the mode calibrated for Netflix and are certified IMAX Enhanced (as well as products from Denon and Marantz which we talked about in November).
The panels used are LCD 85" and 98" with backlight Full LED. Sony speaks of Backlight Master Drive with a higher density of LED modules controlled independently. In other words, it is a local dimming more advanced compared to the LCD Ultra HD. Technology X-tended Dynamic Range PRO 8K is used to enhance the peak brightness, if required. The contrast ratio stated is 20 times higher than that of a common TV with LED backlight.
The processor that equips the series ZG9 is the X1 the Ultimate, here optimized to manage over 33 million pixels that make up the panels. The calculation capacity of the processor is exploited by the technology 8K X-Reality PRO, developed to handle the upscaling to the resolution of 8K. This system leans on a store created just for the 8K and promise greater accuracy and greater detail. Three cameras for maximum fun and an excellent hardware?
