Several vendors are prepared to receive orders from Apple for the display mini-LED

According to DigiTimes, Apple is working on the creation of an iPad Pro 12.9-inch display mini-LED, which will be launched in the third quarter of 2020. This seems to correspond to the previous reports, including the analysis of Ming-Chi Kuo on the possible timing of launch of the devices with display mini-LED.

As for the other reports, the General Interface Solution (GIS) seems to be the potential supplier of the technology for the iPad, along with Taiwan Surface Mount Technology (TSMT), Zhen Ding Technology, Epistar and Flexium Interconnect. It seems, however, that GIS and TSMT will be the main supplier of components for the display, with the rest will provide other secondary parts.

Even if the technology mini-LED is receiving mota the attention, Apple is still watching to other display technologies, such as Micro-LEDS. Potentially creating one of the screen more thin because of the lack of backlight, the technology seems to offer a display that is more robust than that of the OLED, providing contrast levels and the like, and a brighter image.

It is believed that Apple has worked with Epistar and other providers in the development of display mini-LEDS and Micro-LEDS for use in its products.
