Samsung queen of the OLED display for smartphones: market share of over 90%
Samsung is the confirmed leader of the market of OLED panels for smartphones. A position established over the years that, according to the latest analysis of the market, shows no signs of letting up: in the last quarter the share of the Korean giant has once again exceeded 90%.
According to data collected by Stone Partners, in the first three months of 2020, Samsung Display has shipped 61.6 million OLED panels for smartphones. The rival brands, and that is EDO, Visionox, Tianma, and BOE, there are scores of "crumbs", being responsible for, respectively, 4.9%, and 4.5%, 0.4% and 0.1% of the total of $ 68.3 million OLED displays shipped during the time window examined. Which means, as anticipated, Samsung has occupied the remaining 90,2%. It is not the highest percentage ever, given that in the first quarter of 2019 had come up to 94,1%. But it is still a portrait of a supremacy of the net.
According to Counterpoint Research, in the year 2020 will be dispatched on 600 million smartphones that fit OLED panels, although we know that these estimates are susceptible to strong fluctuations, because of the crisis in global health in the act that can change the cards on the table, especially if it persists for the whole year.
