Samsung: DRAM LPDDR4X 12GB in production for the smartphone of the future
Samsung Electronics has announced the start of mass production of memory RAM LPDDR4X, 12GB, with a thickness of just 1.1 millimeters. The new solution will be implemented on future high-end smartphone (maybe starting from Note 10 that we talked about at the end of February in respect to the camera compartment), and will allow users to experience more and more fluid.
With the new DRAM, the producers will be able to exploit to the maximum the potential of the devices, with support to five or more cameras, the display size more and more, artificial intelligence and connectivity 5G. The capacity of 12GB was obtained by combining six chips LPDDR4X 16 gigabit (Gb) based on the process of second-generation class 10 nm (1y-nm) in a single module that provides more space for the battery of the smartphone and a data transfer rate equal to 34.1 GB/s.
Here is the declaration of Sewon Chun, executive vice president of Memory Marketing for Samsung Electronics and the timeline of mass production of memory RAM initiated over the years by the south Korean company. The middle range without compromise?
