Romics d'oro 2018 to Tsukasa Hojo, the father of Cat's Eye and City Hunter
The official website of the Romics, festival of comics, animation, cinema and games, now in its XXIII edition, has announced that Tsukasa Hojo, a famous manga artist, the creator of the Cat's Eye – cat's Eye, City Hunter and Angel Heart, will be the special guest of the event the roman, in the course of which will be awarded the Romics d'oro 2018.
The XXIII edition of Romics celebrates the great mangaka Tsukasa Hojo with the assignment of the Romics d'oro to the career.
The famous creator of the series, Cat's Eye, City Hunter and Angel Heart is Hojo he is passionate about the comic book since childhood, thanks to his friendship with a companion who aspires to become a comic professional. After the debut in 1980 as a mangaka professional on Shonen Jump with the work Ore wa Otoko da!, starts with Nobuhiko Horie a close collaboration that will take him in 1981 with the publication of Cat's Eyes (Cat's Eye).
The work, focused on the stories of three sisters skilled and agile thieves on the hunt for works of art, and conquest, from the outset the audience, bringing instant popularity to the author, both for the topics dealt with, by choice, is unique to the times, proposing female characters as protagonists in a market in which the female figure was relegated to a secondary role.
The success is huge: in 1983, performed by the Tokyo video Games an anime that will be aired in Italy in 1985 and will be broadcast in France, Spain, Germany, Brazil, China, and the Philippines.
In the 1985 debut on Shonen Jump series, detective City Hunter. The success at home is even larger than those of Cat's Eyes, and consecrated him definitively Hojo as a draftsman reference to the japanese comics. In 2001, on the basis of the success of City Hunter, Hojo realizes Angel Heart, a spin-off series set in a future parallel. Also Angel Heart is a anime series by TMS Entertainment aired in Japan from 2005 to 2006, which is currently unpublished in Italy.
Tsukasa Hojo is famous for its style characterized by the elegant and refined, and a high realism: while following the classical setting of the japanese comic, its characters are characterized by stretches for the most part western. Content with the dramatic, depth of the situations that often analyze the human soul in its deeper and more complex, and a good dose of humor make it suitable for an adult audience.
The XXIII edition of Romics celebrates the japanese artist with the assignment of the Romics d'oro to the career and with a monographic exhibition that will expose the plates and illustrations of his major works: Cat's Eyes, City Hunter, Angel Heart. Hojo will be also the protagonist of a meeting at the Pala Romics to retrace and celebrate his long career as a great international success.
The edition 2018 of Romics will take place at the nuova Fiera di Roma from 5 to 8 April 2018.
