Launched in 2011, Super Dinosaur has as its protagonist a Tyrannosaurus Rex, with a lot of armor, joins Derek Dynamo to stop the evil Max Maximus, who has a plan regarding the achievement of the center of the Earth and other dinosaurs. The series consists of 23 books.

In an interview with USA Today, in the period of the launch of the comic series, Kirkman has revealed how the idea for the character of Super Dinosaur came from the son of the artist Jason Howard, Jake, who had previously drawn a T-rex with a cape. Howard entered, therefore, in contact with Kirkman, and together they developed the overarching storyline. In the end, they have created a T-rex with the arms tiny, and super technology!
