At Comic-con International in San Diego, the Warner Bros. Television announced that the star of charmed and Beverly Hills 90210 Star Shannen Doherty will appear in the fourth season of Riverdale, who will meet with Fred Andrews and will offer a tribute to the Luke Perry of 90210, which he played exactly Andrews in the show. Of the rest, Perry and Doherty remained friends after the conclusion of the historical series, and they both wanted to bring Doherty in the cast. Perry, as you will remember, died during the production of last season, causing the closure of the series to give to the cast and crew time to process the tragedy.

Titled “Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam”, the premiere of the October 9, will show the indelible mark that the character of Perry, Fred Andrews, has had on Riverdale. His presence in the series “is something that Luke wanted to from the first season,” said executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. “They were so good friends, and when we were planning this episode in tribute, we wanted to make it as special as possible, and so we asked Shannon to play a crucial role, and super-emotional. He read the script and he immediately said “Yes”. It is very beautiful.”

Few other details are available on the role of Doherty, who has been described as a small, but significant.

The cast of Riverdale will see new faces, especially in the classrooms of the school. During the panel for the show at Comic-con in San Diego, it was revealed that Kerr Smith will join the cast as Honey, the new principal of Riverdale High. Honey, that will be a recurring character in the series, is described as “a bit of a hard head, which takes a stern line with the students this year, especially with the elderly”.

Smith is known for his roles as Jack McPhee in Dawson's Creek, but he also appeared in Agents of SHIELD.

Honey should make his debut in the second episode of the fourth season, titled “Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times at Riverdale High”. Therefore, it seems that the school environment will have a lot of importance, together with the fate of the characters, as Jughead:

“I can't say anything specific about this,” said the showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of the fate of the Jughead, shortly after the end of season 3, “All I can say is, I guess things seem very difficult for Jughead in that scene, for sure”.

In addition, Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) will return for the next season; as they will remember the fans, Josie, has left the show last season, after deciding to follow his musical career and go on tour with his father.

And since music is a key element in the series, here in the new season will form the musical group known as The Archies, Betty, Archie, Veronica and Jughead, which will challenge you in a battle of the bands; an idea that in the beginning, was in the thoughts of the production.

We close with a bit of gossip directly from San Diego: if, in Riverdale, the romantic relationship of Archie Andrews might have seen some ups and downs in the last season, in real life everything seems to go well. The actor Archie was spotted with his colleague in Qua la zampa! Britt Robertson during the festival dedicated to the Comic-con Entertainment Weekly on Saturday. They also kissed while they were on tour with the co-star of Riverdale, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and Cole Sprouse.
