Quibi, support for TV coming soon. First iOS, then Android
Quibi will soon be able to transmit content to the TV. The update should arrive in the next few days for iOS, while on Android, there will still be a bit of a wait. There is no accurate information on the platforms and protocols supported.
Quibi, which is a contraction of the English expression "Quick Bites" is a streaming service style Netflix but designed primarily for smartphones. Has a few tweaks of the format (each episode of a series lasts no more than 7-8 minutes) and the technology (the optimization of the frame both horizontally and vertically, able to switch from one to the other in real-time) which makes it particularly suitable to mobile devices. The support for large screens goes apparently against the philosophy of the app, designed to be watched on the way home/work or when you have those five/ten minute break during the daily grind. But a choice was a bit forced, according to what was declared by the co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The fact is that the debut of the service has been below expectations. In the first seven days the downloads have been 1.7 million, yes, but the curve has flattened out rather quickly. Today, at a distance of approximately 1 month, Katzenberg speaks of 3.5 million installations and 1.3 million active users (according to Sensor Tower, however, the downloads are still less, 2.9 million). And all of this, it is well to remember that, in a phase still fully covered by the free trial period of 3 months.Zero compromise for the best price??
