Phil Schiller speaks about the new MacBook Pro by 16-inch

To the question on the keyboard scissor redesigned MacBook Pro 16-inch, Schiller recognized that the keyboards at a butterfly on the recent MacBook Pro models have received a “mixed reaction” due in part to “some quality issues” that may cause problems with the keys sticky, repetitions, or non-functional buttons.

Schiller says that Apple has carefully considered the feedback of our customers and found that many professional users wanted that the MacBook Pro had a keyboard similar to the Magic Keyboard stand-alone for iMac:

As you know, several years ago, we introduced a new technology for the keyboard on the MacBook. He had some stuff that was really good, how to create a key platform much more stable. It seemed more firm and flat under the finger – some people love it, but other people were not really happy with. We had a kind of mixed reaction. We have had some quality problems on which we have had to work with. In the course of the years we have perfected the design of the keyboard, and we are now in the third generation, and many people are much happier.

When we started to study specifically what that professional users wanted more, a lot of times, saying, “I Want something like this keyboard is magical, I love that keyboard”.

Another common request among the professionals was to bring an Esc key physical. Schiller said that it was a request “number one” on the Touch Bar. To its credit, Apple has listened and made the change:

There is a pretty high number of customers who use the Touch Bar, and they see great advantages in some of its features, but there were also a few complaints. If I had to classify the complaints, in the first place there were the customers who like an Esc key physical. It was only an adaptation is difficult for many people.

We decided that instead of removing just the Touch Bar and lose the benefits that some people get, to add the Esc key. While we used to do it, in the MacBook Air we had already created a button with Touch ID. People really like it. Therefore, a decision was taken to keep the Touch Bar, but also to create space on both sides for the Esc key, and the Touch ID. This is the best solution for the greatest number of people with whom we had to deal with complaints and that he has kept something innovative that the people using it.

The question of whether Apple was going to merge the Mac and iPad, Schiller insisted on the fact that the devices will remain separate:

No, this is not our point of view. We believe that the best personal computer both a Mac and want to continue on this road. And we think that the best computing device for the tablet-either an iPad, and we will follow that road.

Schiller has also minimized the possibility of a Mac with a touchscreen, as she has always done Apple.

At the end of the interview, Schiller takes a look at the Google Chromebooks in the classroom, describing them as “test tools cheap” that do not allow children to have success. Of course, Schiller has said that Apple thinks that the iPad is the “instrument par excellence” on which a child can learn.
