: One Piece Eiichirō Oda reveals a tender curiosity about Brook

Published on May 20, 2019

Eiichirō Oda can make One Piece the international success that it is thanks to his ability to distort reality and, above all, his desire to make the impossible, possible.

One of these events is reflected on the Brook, one of the members of the crew of Luffy, who, in spite of death, has come back to life thanks to the power of the Devil Fruit Yomi Yomi. The price to pay, however, was to live in a body that has now become a skeleton, but in the course of the years we have known best the character and he himself has learned even to make fun of himself.

Beyond all this, the Oda has revealed a tender curiosity about the Brook and on its ability to cry tears despite being a skeleton, and the answer to think about.

Through a previous series SBS, section of questions and answers between Eiichirō Oda and the fans in the volumes manga of the opera, a fan asked the author how to never Brook can cry, despite being a skeleton. Here is the answer of Po:

“Because even if the tears of sadness dry up, the tears of joy do not and this is dictated by the kindness of the people.“

Oda just casually dropping in the notion that a skeleton can cry because joyful tears are eternal is definitely destroying me.

Can't even read the SBS without earning this avatar, I swear...

With a simple phrase the author has conveyed a message that very often we tend to misunderstand: to weep for joy is never an error, and the strength to reveal the tears will never go away because we are moved by a heart and tender feelings.
