The director Josh Boone explained that with the New Mutants he's going to give a start to a trilogy of horror in the universe of the X-Men

After the launch of the first trailer of the New Mutants, a spin-off of the saga X-Men has been confirmed as the film is directed by Josh Boone definitely has a different cut from what we have seen up to this moment, the same director, in speaking recently with IGN, has revealed the intention to achieve an entire trilogy.

We have proposed to Fox as the first of a movie trilogy actually based on the long run of Sienkiewicz, which incorporates some things of the latest releases of the ’80s.

Will all of the horror movies, each of them will be a kind horror movie distinct. This in particular will be a horror film with a distorted reality and the supernatural. The next one will be a horror film different.

Boone added that the recent success of films such as Logan and Deadpool, he encouraged them to direct the film in a direction of more raw and violent, and even though he avoided to call Demon Bear, the villain of the film, the director has revealed that the New Mutants is heavily influenced by that particular story.

We were incredibly inspired by the story of the Demon Bear, that is probably the best and most famous story of the New Mutants, but also by Stephen King, and movies such as one flew over the cuckoo's nest and a Nightmare on elm street 3 – dream warriors.

The New Mutants, a spin-off of the X-Men even in the universe comic from Marvel appeared for the first time in 1982, while in 1983 they became a monthly album.

The story centers on a group of young, aspiring X-Men, the students of the school of Charles Xavier, composed by Dani Moonstar, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Karma, Magik, Warlocke Cypher.

The film, directed by Josh Boone, written by Knate Gwaltney (and by the same Boone), will be produced by Simon Kingberg and Karen Rosenfelt and will be released in cinemas in the USA on the 13th of April 2018.

The cast of the film is composed by Maisie Williams who plays Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy in the role of Into a Rasputin/Magik, Henry Žaga in the role of Sunspot and Charlie Heaton to whom has been entrusted the part of Cannonball.
