Napoli Comicon 2019: Francesco Francavilla is the author of the manifesto
The author of the XXI edition is Francesco Francavilla, who won two categories of the Eisner Award and illustrator of the best-selling books, according to the classification of the “New York Times”, in addition to having shown a whole number. In addition to having published in Detective Comics and Archie, Francavilla has worked with the great authors of the world musical scene, such as Pearl Jam, Kirk Hammett, to tv programs like American Idol and american magazines such as Entertainment Weekly, Wired, Variety, Esquire, and others.
As the protagonist of the poster, Francesco Francavilla has created a girl-style post-punk, surrounded by the typical elements that have characterized all the previous editions of the Napoli Comicon and the city that hosts it: you fly on a vespino space that pulls you to a tomorrow full of comics, video games, cosplay, and all that the fair offers.
"I am very close to Naples, the first festival of comics in which I participated took place right here," said Francavilla. "For the realization of the manifesto of the Comicon I thought of Moebius, an artist of which I'm a big fan and who was also the guest of the festival. I have imagined a space-girl immersed in a context of science fiction, but I wanted to in some way suggest the atmosphere of Naples. The result is what you see: a Naples futuristic where the teenager can drive a hover-scooter, accompanied by giant robot (my other passion) in a race to the doors of Comicon."
