Modem Intel instead of Qualcomm in the 3 new iPhone 11

The new range of iPhone 2019 Apple uses modem Intel instead of Qualcomm, confirmed by PCMag thanks to the screens in the field test of the devices.

PCMag says that the devices based on Intel and Qualcomm have configurations menu with different screens to test out in the field and the newest devices of Apple are using the layout Intel.

We understand why the menu of field tests on the iPhone based on Intel-based and Qualcomm-have menu items are different and these have remained consistent over the course of the generations. (I checked the models from the generation 6s up to the XR.)

The information on the field tests do not specify which modem Intel using Apple, but the new iphones are probably equipped with the XMM 7660, the last modem that Intel has produced before retiring from the field of the modem to the smartphone.

PCMag says to expect that the new iPhone will have a LTE speed of 20% faster than last year's model, but to confirm you will need to run the test. The iPhone 11 will be a little slower than iPhone 11 Pro because although this year has LTE support class Gigabit ports, has 2×2 MIMO instead of 4×4 MIMO.

The first test shared immediately after the event of the iPhone on September 10 have suggested that the iPhone 11 Pro was 13% faster than the iPhone XS, but there was no information about how it was conducted the comparison of the speed.

Apple has used the modem Intel-only in iPhone recent because of his legal battle with Qualcomm, but at the beginning of this year, Apple and Qualcomm have settled their dispute and signed a new agreement that will see Apple use the Qualcomm modem in its devices for the next few years.

Apple is expected to use the technology to Qualcomm in the iPhone 2020, with support for 5G, but the giant of Cupertino is also developing its own modem technology, and has purchased most of the division modem Intel to achieve its goals. The final goal of Apple is to create internally their own chip modem, by reducing reliance on Qualcomm, and according to reports, the company has set a target for 2021.
