Mary Queen of Scotland: the ITALIAN trailer of the film with Margot Robbie
The film, featuring the candidates for the Oscar Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie in the guise of cousins (or, as they call themselves, “sisters”), Mary and Elizabeth, who are to clash after the first back in his native Scotland, and challenge the England (Elizabeth), claiming the throne of the Country.
Ronan has been linked to the film since 2012, when the film was written by Michael Hirst (writer of Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age). The film was later rewritten by Beau Willimon, who adapted his screenplay from a book by John Guy. The same Willimon is known for his work on the political thriller by George Clooney, The ides of March (adapted from his stage play, Farragut North) and created the TV series of Netflix House of Cards. It is not surprising therefore that, given the background of Willimon, the film will focus more on the political aspects of the story than on any other aspect. In the same way, the first trailer is light on the wider patriarchal society in which the pair of queens you live.
Mary, Queen of Scotland, was directed by Josie Rourke, which brings a true sense of theatricality. The film also seems to boast some impressive sets and costumes... although, of course, their historical accuracy is another matter.
The film will be presented in preview at AFI Fest, 2018 to mid-November, about three weeks before the debut in the cinema of the United States.
