Marvel has not provided more information about the series, except that each will have five numbers starting in February. The covers of each of the series showing familiar faces of the X-Men (and one of the main villain, Apocalypse) with new look and uniform, and the title “Age of X-Man,” inspired directly from the alternate reality “Age of Apocalypse” was created when the son of Charles Xavier, Legion, traveled into the past to kill Magneto, killing accidentally the same Xavier.

Nate Gray, alias X-Man, was one of the few characters to escape from the universe of the “Age of Apocalypse” before its destruction, and was featured on the covers of the recent Uncanny X-Men with his Four Horseman of Salvation (Blob, Omega Red , Angel, and Magneto). It remains to be seen if he's the same as the cause of this Age of X-Man or an innocent victim.

ATTENTION: FROM HERE ON, SPOILERS FROM UNCANNY X-MEN #1

But let's see what happens in Uncanny X-Men #1 came out this week. The issue opens with Jean Grey has a vision of dozens of copies of Jamie Madrox in search of Kitty Pryde as the X-Men fight them. In the meantime, Kitty Pryde leads a team of young X-Men to deal with Forearm.

During their approach, Kitty suddenly emerges from the plane in an uncontrollable fashion, causing malfunctions in the circuits, while she disappears. The young X-Men rush into the lab, with Anole and Oya, who report of wounds. It turns out that the Forearm is not the only one, we meet the entire Liberation Front Mutant, which is attacking the lab to destroy a vaccine that prevents the X gene to manifest mutant powers in children.

Although they have been saved by the X-Men adults, the young team remains doubtful about the opportunity of helping the Front destroy the vaccine from the mutant.

In New York, the senator anti-mutant, Ashton Allen, extols the virtues of the vaccine from the mutant, calling for its implementation to save the human race. While Jean Grey prepares to confutarlo, a horde of clones, Madrox rushes on the stage and covering the senator and saying that they are trying to stop everything that's going to happen.

Although the X-Men to keep occupied copies of Madrox, the fight ends abruptly when senator Allen disappears in the same way that Kitty Pryde has disappeared previously. The confused X-Men are accused of “attacking” senator Allen, but the end of the story reveals that the senator, Kitty Pryde and... the Apocalypse have been imprisoned by some mysterious character.

Later, in a series of stories with flashbacks, Bishop, Storm, Jean Gray, and the young X-Men fight all a group of humans who suddenly manifest powers of energy and begin to change. While Jean tries to contact them psychically, he learns that a mysterious entity is controlling all, and the latter tells her that he is only trying to solve a problem that he caused.

During the fight, a woman who Jean had met earlier in the story that showed strange abilities, has apparently been killed. However, it appears to Jean one last time and says, “I'm afraid that is only the beginning”. While the woman walks away, turns into a form that you only see in part and resembles the look of Nate Grey of the covers previously shown for the forthcoming numbers of the Uncanny X-Men.

The story continues in Uncanny X-Men #2 of 21 November.
