Kuo denies it, nothing 3D sensor on the rear camera of the iPhone 2019
Contrary to the expectations of the sector, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will integrate a solution TOF (rear-side-of-flight) on its line of iPhone in 2019, because this technology is not yet ready to revolutionize the augmented reality.
In a note sent to investors, Kuo says that Apple will integrate any technology TOF on the iPhone that will come out in 2019. According to the analyst, in fact, the company would be focusing on new augmented reality experiences, such as the creation of a real viewer AR that could be ready between 2020 and 2021.
The choice not to integrate a rear camera with 3D sensor technology and TOF was dictated by the fact that, at the moment, this solution is not yet ready for a revolution in the AR experiences with respect to the current state.
Kuo believes that, for Apple, a revolutionary experience includes an ecosystem that AR full of connectivity 5G, wearable device (viewer) and a database of mapping Apple's much more powerful than the current one. Apple Maps, in fact, may be in the future, the real killer app for AR experiences advanced.
In addition, the technology TOF is not intended to improve the quality of the pictures taken. No news of this type is expected for 2019.
