Justice League Dark: Zatanna uses the music of Queen
In the real world, magic does not exist. At least, does not exist in the way we usually see in fairy tales. However, we have a form of magic that brings great joy to people: the magic of music.
WARNING: spoilers for Justice League Dark #21, James Tynion IV, Ram V, Alvaro Martinez Bueno, Raul Fernandez, June Chung, and Rob Leigh.
And in Justice League Dark #21 the music of Queen could be a little more magical than what we think. In this issue, Zatanna makes an appeal to the power of Queen to defeat the enemy of the supernatural.
In number, Zatanna and John Constantine are facing the Rot in an abandoned hospital and is referred to the text of the iconic classic Queen song “Bohemian Rhapsody” to hit the enemies with a lot of lightning.
Using its ability to activate its mystical powers, speaking to the contrary, it evokes the lightning, saying, “Galileo, very very frightening” and assuming a pose that is almost identical to the pose of Freddie Mercury on the cover of Queen II.
To make it even more evident the connection with the Queen, even take one of the poses the most iconic of Mercury, which will see her raise a fist in the air.
This is not the first foray of the famous group in the comics.
The band has had numerous comic books that tell the story of his career, including Hard Rock Comics #9 Rock N ‘Roll Comics #48, Queen's Greatest Hits Queen: those Magical Dreams That We Shared. The artist of the pop culture Butcher Billy had turned Freddie Mercury into a comic book hero through the “Planet Comics”, where each of the numbers Butcher Billy reinventava the famous singer as various superheroes classics, from Doctor Manhattan in Wonder Woman.
Also, Freddie Mercury has shown his love for the pop culture during the Queen tour. It was often brought on stage by a man in the costume of Superman or Darth Vader, and sometimes also wore t-shirts Superman.
