In a recent interview with NME, Marc Maron, previously critical, in general, on films dedicated to superheroes, has talked about what has convinced him to accept a role in the upcoming stand-alone elseworld dedicated to the Joker.

“I think that Todd Phillips has had a very interesting approach to the world of superheroes; I have criticized in the past, cinecomics, and, having accepted a role in the film, has been given to me of the hypocritical” are the words of Maron, “But whatever you think, if you call for to shoot a scene with Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro, you never say no. And I would have done anyway, also bearing in mind the criticism of the Marvel movies, because there is that kind of approach: it is a story of origin, the study of a sick person's mind that becomes the Joker. It is a film of intimate, raw and realistic, with a very precise purpose. It will be really interesting to see what they will come out”.

Interview at the Sundance Film Festivall instead, Zazie Beetz had the opportunity to speak of the upcoming new film on the Joker, alien to the new shared universe of the Worlds of DC.

The actress said as the movie has been almost rewritten day after day, so going to enrich a screenplay has already been programmed, and leaving a lot more space to the creativity of the various actors.

Zazie Beetz, actress with experience in cinecomics thanks to the role of Domino in Wolverine, will play the role of Sophie Dumond, of which we report the current description:

“Secondary character female african american or latina between 27 and 34 years old. Not beautiful, very hard with himself, he has a mother left alone and tries to do as much as possible for digging out the living, consumed by the hustle and bustle of the city. He sees that the system is against you, against the people most in need, all the injustice and decides to cut ties with everything.”

Previously, announced Douglas Hodge and Dante Pereira-Olson to play, respectively, Alfred and a young Bruce Wayne. Hodge has starred in films such as Robin Hood and the Red Sparrow, and series like Penny Dreadfull and The Night Manager, while the young Dante Pereira-Olson in the series Sy-Fy Happy!.

After the surrender to the role of Alec Baldwin, will be Brett Cullen (as confirmed by Comicbook) to play Thomas Wayne. The actor has played the Barton Blaze in Ghost Rider and also had a small role in The Dark Knight – The return. Thomas Wayne should be very important to the plot, since that may have had a history with the mother of Arthur, Penny (who could be played by Frances Conroy). The more daring and imaginative speculate a fascinating scenario that would see the same Joker to be the half-brother of Bruce Wayne. Thanks to JustJared, we also have now the first look at Cullen as Thomas Wayne, in a photo taken on the set:

The set arrived a lot of content, including photos and videos, which offer fans the chance to get an idea about how will be the appearance of the villain before the transformation, and transmit the whole noir atmosphere of the years ’80 of the film.

In the cast of the film, Robert De Niro and Marc Maron: as reported by ThatHashtagShow, the two will be, respectively, the presenter of a talk show at night and he takes care of the guests of the programme. The talk show should have an important role in the plot, whereas in many suggest, such as Arthur Fleck will be one of the guests and will be publicly humiliated, by increasing the feeling that he will become the Joker. Shea Whingham will be instead a policeman of the district of the GCPD.

Many other previously unpublished characters: S, Randall, Gary, Hoyt Vaughn, the Detective claims, for instance, Detective Burke. The production budget should be approximately $ 55 million: compared to the other cinecomics is much lower, but the tone of noir in the ’80s guarantees a setting and definitely more realistic to what was seen in Wonder Woman or Justice League.

The film, being apparently disconnected from the current-continuity cinema, will open a subsidiary created by Warner Bros. and DC Comics. The output of the Joker, directed by Todd Philips for a screenplay of the same Philips and Scott Silver, is expected in the halls, USA, on 4 October 2019.
