John Constantine: Hellblazer #1 – the first tables of the relaunch
DC has anticipated some of the pages of John Constantine: Hellblazer #1, the debut of the new series of Simon Spurrier and Aaron Campbell, on arrival from the 27th of November.
“John Constantine is returning to London and to his old tricks – and just in time, given that things have become very dark. A small head-band is found to having to face the strangeness of the supernatural... and without any ally to call, John did not have much choice, but what's supposed to be an exorcism turns out to be nothing.. and the author of this madness might be just the beginning!”
Spurrier was described as the new Constantine:
“Lonely, angry, older and wiser,” he said, “it is a world that is clearly becoming crazy,” continued Spurrier. “The shadows are deeper than ever, so is what he is doing, breathes smoke, smiles to himself and goes to work.”
John Constantine: Hellblazer is illustrated by Campbell, who noted that he wanted to draw Constantine for a long time: “I couldn't believe it,” said Campbell, “I have a deep affinity with Constantine, because it somehow represents my existential dread,” he said. “Something deep within compels him to do what he does, and I've always thought so for the comics... it's Not that I want to be a comic book artist, I need to be a comic book artist. I could not exist without this. And only the horror itself is something that resonates deeply with me.”
