Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino will make a comic on the Joker
In the next month Jeff Lemire will be engaged in writing two series at the DC Black Label.
The most intriguing is titled the Joker: Killer Smile, and will to the designs of Andrea Sorrentino. The story will tell the story of the Joker, engaged inside of Arkham Asylum to take aim at dr. Ben Arnell, a specialist in the care of the discomfort of mental. Just as he did with Harley Quinn, the objective of the nemesis of Batman will be to overturn all the certainties of the doctor, driving him to madness.
The first issue of Joker: Killer Smile will be released on the 30th of October.
The other DC series Black Label which will be written by Lemire will be The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage, who will be drawn by Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz. The first number of the series will be published on 20 November.
Interview by i09 Lemire said about his work on the Joker: Killer Smile:”To tell you the truth I never had any particular desire to write something on the Joker, but I love to work with Andrea Sorrentino. And the fact of being able to explore all that there is of surreal, metaphorical and psychological in a story with the Joker for me.
I didn't want to be heavy-handed - he continued - and I didn't want to express in the story, something that reflected the reality of today, but there are elements of chaos and fear inside of Killer Smile that I think are more evident in our society, a social and political level”.
While in The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage, the protagonist will be precisely The Question, who will die and will incarnate multiple times within the Hub City.
About this story, Lemire has stated:”In the original version of the character, or that of Steve Ditko, you notice this person who is so connected with the company, but at the same time the stories are existentialist and talk about the search for identity. These days there is so much anguish that the people can not see beyond themselves and their own perspective. And a character like The Question can become a sort of symbol, able to make a path, full of nuances into his world, telling you all what you do not know about him.”
