Internet Explorer 11, a vulnerability could lead to data theft
Internet Explorer 11 can be exploited by an attacker to view and steal files on a Windows 7 system, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows 10. It is not necessary to use it: it just has to be installed - and this is true even in the most recent versions of Windows 11, in spite of the advent of the new Microsoft Edge (that is even changing on the basis of Chromium). The vulnerability lies in the handling of the MHT file format (which allows you to "save" in a local web page), open by default with IE11. So you just have to open an attachment via e-mail or click on the link of the wrong to be affected.
The vulnerability was discovered by researcher John Page, who has also released a video demonstration of the attack on YouTube (you can see it below). Page has been reported to Microsoft on march 27, but the company said it does not consider it an urgent problem and that a fix will come in a future not specified; so the Page has decided to disclose publicly all the details.
