Annalisa Strada – Daniela Tieni, The hunter of fossils, Editoriale Scienza
The series Women in science confirms to be an interesting series. In the last volume Annalisa Road tells the story of Mary Anning, a paleontologist for the need (economic!) in a world, that primoottocentesco, who began to discover the value of fossils and the geological history. A woman tough and non-conformist, unable to close in on itself, but ready, instead, to roll up your sleeves in the most adverse situations. Had not education, but the instinct with which it identified the rocks, and the care and attention with which he handled the fossils are left in the story. In a male chauvinist world where it was unthinkable attributed scientific merits of the women, Anne continued her work without giving in to the easy-to lament or revenge. Anne agreed to put the hands where the males strutted to express their theories: a practical intelligence very interesting. Annalisa Road sews a history clear and detailed, maybe a little slow at times, but is dedicated to a figure really charming and original (a woman who loves dinosaurs!). Daniela Please embellishes the narrative with illustrations vivid and windswept Dorset. The accent in the dream that the illustrator master with ability becomes a projection of the thought of the dream and returns the intellectual dimensions of this unknown woman, and so important in scientific history.
