After the recent discovery of parts of code hidden inside Instagram for Android related to some of the functions for the management of the time, the CEO of Instagram Kevin Systrom has confirmed that the new tools are actually under development and will soon be implemented on the platform:
It is true. We are creating tools that will help the community of IG to learn more about the time spent on Instagram, which should be positive and intentional. To understand how time online affects people is important, and it is the responsibility of all companies to be honest about it. We want to be part of the solution. I take seriously this responsibility. “

The function in the arrival reflects a recent trend of large technology companies to recognize the unhealthy habits that their products can promote, especially among younger users. Instagram, that we remember to be the property of Facebook, join with Google and Apple who have confirmed the development of methods to foster a more significant presence online, and to counteract, however, the addiction to smartphones and the internet.
Last week, Google announced several tools to help users better manage the time spent on the screen of their devices. These include a new mode “do not disturb” which makes it easier to ignore the notifications, and a mode that gradually changes the color of the screen in grayscale, reducing the brightness as you approach the moment of sleep.
At the beginning of this year, Apple has received an open letter from two major investors asking the company to do more to reduce the growing dependence on smartphones among children. The letter cited several studies related to the negative effects of smartphones and social media on the mental and physical health of children, inviting Apple to offer more tools to prevent damage.
In a note sent to the Wall Street Journal, Apple said to “reflect deeply” on how they are used its products and the impact they have on users and on the people that surround them:
We take very seriously this responsibility and we pledge to satisfy and exceed the expectations of our customers, especially when it comes to protecting the children.”
The fruits of the commitment of Apple may begin to see starting next month at the Worldwide Developers Conference, will be presented with every chance to iOS 12: in the new firmware, in fact, Apple plans to offer a parental control up-to-date, since new Digital Health tool that will allow parents to know how much time their children spend with the iOS devices in hand.
