HomePod: 600.000 units sold in the first quarter of 2018
According to a recent analysis conducted by the company Strategy Analytics, the HomePod sold by Apple in the first quarter of 2018 would be about 600,000 – about 6% of the market – compared to 4 million speakers smart sold by Amazon in the same period.
If the estimates were to prove accurate, Google and Alibaba you would confirm, respectively, the second and third ranking while Apple would become the fourth largest brand of speaker intelligent in the world after the launch of the HomePod, which took place in February 2018.
David Watkins, director of Strategy Analytics, said, “Amazon and Google accounted for a dominant share of 70% of the global shipment of speakers to be intelligent in the first quarter of 2018, although their combined market share both dropped compared to 84% recorded in the last quarter of 2017”. This, in part, is due to the strong growth of the chinese market speaker intelligent, the market in which they are currently absent is Amazon Google. Alibaba and Xiaomi are therefore paving the way in China and their strength in the market is proving to be enough to push them into the top five overall.
David Mercer, vice president of Strategy Analytics, added:
Further strong growth in sales of speakers smart confirms our opinion that this new market is not a simple fire of straw. Today's speakers intelligent are by no means a finished article, but they have captured the imagination of the consumer, and we will see a rapid evolution in design, in functionality and in the use cases associated with in the coming years. We are clearly heading towards a time in the not too distant future, in which the voice will become a standard mode of interaction technology together with established approaches such as a keyboard, mouse and touchscreen.
