Google Spotlight Stories, a close study of storytelling VR
Google Spotlight Stories, the team dedicated to the exploration of the field of storytelling in virtual reality, will close. Variety has published an email sent by the executive producer Karen Dufilho employees a few hours ago, and then Google has confirmed.
The project was originally conceived about six years ago as a division of Motorola, and was later adopted by the division ATAP (Advanced Technologies and Projects), when google decided to sell the brand to Lenovo. In the course of its existence, has published 13 "experiences" (short films and other types of content), collaborating with names rather prestigious - Justin Lin, director of four titles of the saga Fast and Furious, Patrick Osbourne and John Kahrs of Pixar, and the studio Aardman Animation that deals with the famous cartoon Wallace & Gromit. The collaboration with Osbourne was probably the most prestigious and successful: the short film that came out of this, Pearl has won an Emmy and was the first content to the virtual reality nominated for an Oscar.
Google, according to rumors, has invested significant digits in the Spotlight Stories, and never expect a return concrete economic: the primary objective was to make more attractive its platform of virtual reality to Daydream, but this apparently has not been centered. The top of the range 2018 the most complete on the market?
