Giant Size X-Men #1: 37 illustrators will redraw the winners

Marvel has announced the remake of the historic first issue of Giant Size X-Men, released in 1975.

The remake thought to be a great tribute to the original artists of history, will take the name of Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein and Cockrum #1. In the just mentioned comics, the cartoons and the pages of the original story will be designed by 37 different artists. At least this is what is said in the official press release!

“In 1975, writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum changed the landscape of comics forever with Giant Size X-Men #1. This special issue marked a new era for the team, introducing iconic characters such as Storm and Nightcrawler, by placing the X-Men on the road for them to become the cultural power that they are today. Now, 45 years later, Marvel Comics is honoring this number is historic in a unique way with the help of some of the 37 best artists in the industry. Every amazing page of this unforgettable re-imagined by artists such as Alex Ross, Carmen Carnero, and Mark Brooks. This diverse group of talent has united to pay tribute to this masterpiece, redesigning the original boards to Cockrum with their unique styles.”

The publisher Marvel titles X Jordan White has then added:

“The artists were so excited to work on it because the drawings of this comic have inspired them completely. All those involved adore this comic and they are doing an extraordinary job. You should see it.”

“As a child in the X-Men were my first comics, and Len Wein and Dave Cockrum were decisive in the influenzarmi to become a comic book artist. Be able to contribute to the recreation of a comic that means to me so much is an honor and a privilege. This assignment, and accompanied by the pressure to do justice to Len and Dave is one of the reasons why I am thrilled to work and thank you for showing a young kid, that it's okay to be different and start one's own way.” Said Mark Brooks.

Finally spoke to Mike Hawthorne:

“The contribution that Wein and Cockrum were given about the comic is too huge to be able to weigh. I can honestly say that their X-Men were my first love and it is a privilege to pay homage to these two giants and their contribution to our culture. I designed my page with the heart in hand, gentlemen. I hope it is enough. Thanks to all of you.”

The comic will be released in the States on the 27th of may!
