Explorers is one of the greats of the ’80s.

The film is light and fun which sees as protagonists the three young friends intent on achieving their dream of exploring space with a spaceship created by means of luck. The three boys were played by young, but already talented Ethan Hawke, Jason Presson and the never too late River Phoenix.

The magazine Deadline has reported the news that Cary Fukunaga (Maniac, True Detective, James Bond 25) and David Lowery (The Invisible dragon, The Old Man and The Gun) are joining forces to adapt the classic film into a television series. The two authors will write the screenplay for the pilot episode of Paramount Television, and one of them will direct the pilot episode, if the project were to go to a good end.

The series should tend more towards the dramatic, and some of the most light to the film, which has somewhat lost its sparkle with the passing of the years, the original may not be included in this adaptation.

Cary Fukunaga, as we know, should direct the 25th James Bond movie with Daniel Craig.
