Evangelion 3.0+1.0, Khara takes the distances from Gainax after the arrest of Tomohiro Maki
In the past few days Tomohiro Maki, director representative of Gainax, was arrested on charges of molestation and lewd acts to a wannabe voice actress.
The japanese media have cited Neon Genesis Evangelion in some articles, unleashing the wrath of the studio Khara of Hideaki Year that did not welcome the association with the news and that has come to threaten legal action if such a link were to be repeated.
Through its official web channels, then, the studio has distanced itself from what happened, underlining, if proof were needed, as there is no involvement of mr. Maki in Evangelion and as the company does not have any connection with him.
He added that Hideaki Year, the author of Evangelion and founder of the firm, as well as the member of the board of Khara and director Kazuya Tsurumaki don't know Maki, have no working relationship with Gainax and Gainax does not hold any rights to the franchise Evangelion.
Gainax, among other things, must Khara almost 900 thousand euro as established by a judgment of June 2017.
Khara has finally confirmed that the arrest of Maki will not have repercussions on the production and release of the movie Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 (Shin Evangelion Gekijo-ban :||) scheduled for June 2020.
