Doctor Who: first details and image of the special new year's Eve
As confirmed already by several weeks, the eleventh season of Doctor Who will not have the traditional episode christmas special. The choice has generated many doubts among fans, concerns then also fueled by the rumors of the protagonist, Jodie Whittaker and the showrunner Chris Chibnall is already in the process of leaving the series as riportatovi here.
Meanwhile, however, surprise the BBC has announced a special episode that will be aired on the 1st of January with this post on twitter, which portrays the Whittaker to wear a flashy scarf, obvious tribute to one of the incarnations, the most famous of the Doctor that is the Fourth played by Tom Baker.

It would also pop-up online a synopsis, maybe a little too generic, and the details of the special episode:
“While the festivities begin for the end of the year, a terrifying evil extends, through the centuries, on Earth. The Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz come back home, but will be able to avert this terrible threat?”
The special is written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Wayne Yip, who had already directed two episodes with Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor (Lie of the Land and Empress of Mars by 2017), and in 2016 two episodes of the spin-off Class (Detained and The Metaphysical Engine, or What Quill Did).
In the episode, of course, will Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, Tosin Cole as Ryan, Bradley Walsh as Graham and Mandip Gill as Yaz.
