Last month, fans of Doctor Who have learned that Stephen Fry, Sir Lenny Henry CBE, Goran Višnjić and Robert Glenister would be united to Jodie Whittaker for the number 12 as the Doctor, receiving a new teaser.

Well, now we know that “early 2020” means new year's Eve as the Doctor and his companions Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) will materialize again on the screens of BBC One and BBC America with the story in two parts Spyfall. Written by showrunner and writer Chris Chibnall, the second part will air Sunday, January 5 – with subsequent episodes airing on Sundays.

At the top you can give you a first look at the return of the show, that is Fry, to introduce the Doctor and his team to a threat disturbing that undermines the security of the world.

Speaking recently with RadioTimes, Chibnall explained that the objective this season is to give fans of Doctor Who, both new and long-standing a better understanding of the scope of the universe of the Doctor:

“Last year was a year of recruiting for the show, and I think we've managed to recruit some people. It will be exciting. And of course, we have maintained our existing audience and built on that. I think that this year we are developing, so for all the people who don't know Doctor Who will “Watch the fantastic world of Doctor Who, look at all of the delicacies that are there”.

...Doctor Who must exist in the landscape of modern tv. There is so much drama, there are so many shows. We must continually find new reasons to exist. But there are also many things that the show has never done before. I think last year you saw that we took many risks, and I think they have paid for, and I think that we will continue to run some big risks this year.

...The risk is embedded in Doctor Who, from the first day in 1963. There is no doubt”.
