Dirk Gently cancelled by BBC America after two seasons
No more surveys for Dirk Gently, Todd, and members ... at least on tv. BBC America has decided not to continue beyond the second season for the tv series Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, inspired by the homonymous novel by Douglas Adams.
The network said in a statement: “We are extremely proud of this brilliant series and his exceptional team. It was a privilege to work with a group so passionate and talented pool of writers, producers and actors. Thanks also to the fans who have embraced this fantastic world drawn from the novels”.
The cast of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency it is composed by Samuel Barnett (Penny Dreadful), Elijah Wood (the lord of The rings, Wilfred) and Hannah Marks (Necessary Roughness, Awkward, The Real O hardee's). The theory at the basis of the method of investigation of Dirk Gently says that everything in the universe is connected, and only through pure chance you can get to grasp the interconnections between facts seemingly disconnected between them. This leads the detective to resort to methods such as the orientation of zen, which is to follow the first person that seems to know where to go. Each season is centred on a single large case, and each episode brings Gently (Barnett) and his assistant Todd (the Wood) a step closer to the truth... maybe.
Max Landis and Robert Cooper are the creators and the showrunner of the show. The cast includes Jade Eshete (Farah), Hannah Marks (Amanda), Mpho Koaho (Ken), Fiona Dourif (Bart), Dustin Milligan (Friedkin), Michael Eklund (Martin/Rowdy 3), Realizes Chau (Vogel/Rowdy 3), Viv Leacock (Gripps/Rowdy 3) and Zak Santiago (Cross/Rowdy 3). In the new episodes we will also see John Hannah (The Mage), Amanda Walsh (Suzie Boreton), Tyler Labine (Sherlock Hobbs), Izzie Steele (Deputy Tina Tevetino), Aleks Paunovic (Wygar Oak) and Alan Tudyk (Mr. Priest).
The second (and last) season of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency will arrive in Italy on the 5th of January on Netflix. The comic series, instead, is published in Italy by saldaPress with three volumes.
