Denis Villeneuve speaks of the Dunes: “I'm obsessed”
Denis Villeneuve is back to talk about the project on the Dunes, the new film adaptation who “dreams all the time”
Among the many sequels, reboots and remakes in the pipeline in Hollywood, the new project linked to the Dunes't seem right to sleep in Denis Villeneuve; which we have recently been able to appreciate at the movies, thanks to his last work: Blade Runner, 2049.
The director, during a recent interview, he revealed himself to be completely enraptured by the project and not be able to think about anything else.
Here are his words:
It is a story that I was immediately impressed. I think that the culture created by Frank Herbert to be a portrait of the contemporary world. The way in which it makes its way between religion and politics, natural resources, and the ecosystem. It is a true source of inspiration. I think it is one of the best novels I have ever read. [...] At the moment, are totally focused on the Dunes. I am obsessed with it and I dream it all the time. This is despite the fact I don't know yet if I will shoot the film. I don't know if we will find an agreement on the script, I don't know yet. In six months I could be without a job, but now keep dreaming Dunes.
During the interview, the director has found the space to praise the work done by David Lunch with the adaptation of 1984, which defined “by the fantastic look and design incredible and crazy”.
If the project will be in port (and all the signals that arrive from Hollywood say yes), Villeneuve has already stated that it will be all recorded in the IMAX format:
“it would be crazy not to film it, taking advantage of that technology”
