DC Comics has officially announced yesterday the release for January in the USA of Swamp Thing, Winter Special #1 one-shot special that will gather the most recent history of the co-creator of the character that the legendary Len Wein, recently passed away.

The story in the first issue of a mini-series that, unfortunately, will not see more of the light is set immediately after Alec Holland is transformed into Swamp Thing, and see how the main antagonist, Solomon travelled to Louisiana from Gotham City; the pencils are by Kelley Jones.

Swamp Thing, Winter Special #1 will also contain the long awaited history of the character written by Tom King (Batman, Mister Miracle, Omega Men) and drawn by Jason Fabok (Justice League).

Several times in the past few weeks, the two authors have described this project as moved by the sheer passion for the character, and King explained that the core of the story will be the anxiety.

Swamp Thing, in fact you will find in the tundra in the middle of winter with the impossible task of protecting a child. That Swamp Thing is in a race against time, no hope because of how fast it is wilting and how quickly the child is entering hypothermia. Fabok has described the story as a psychological horror.
