Daredevil: voices on the future of the series and the declarations of the cast

Published on Dec 01, 2018

It seemed impossible until a few years ago a possible cancellation of Daredevil, and, instead, is now, unfortunately, the sad news: after Iron Fist and Luke Cage, Daredevil, the third victim of this carnage made by Netflix to the Marvel series, which logically should soon head to Jessica Jones and The Punisher. The reasons behind the cancellation of Daredevil remain even more mysterious of the previous reasons given, considering how not one could speak of little appeal, or listening is not enough for the series starring the Devil of Hell's Kitchen (speech, instead, is for Luke Cage to Iron Fist).

Therefore, in many, they think that behind these closures by Netflix there is the imminent activation of the Disney+, a streaming service dedicated entirely to the products of the house of Mickey mouse & Co. From this perspective, everything would make sense: Netflix and Marvel are closing their cooperation and talks on any new seasons of the show become the object of discussion is exclusively about Disney. This last hypothesis, according to what emerges from the press release Marvel, it may not be so much a fantasy fan.

“Marvel is extremely grateful to the many people that loved Marvel's Daredevil” reads the statement, “Since the very first act of heroism of Matt emancipation of Karen, Nelson, and Matt himself, has been an incredible journey. We are incredibly proud of all the authors of this series, from showrunner until the cast: Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez, Doug Petrie, Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D'onofrio. The whole cast has brought our characters to life with excellence and effectiveness, one of the best productions of New York. We are anxious to see the Man without fear with new adventures in the future.“

The hope is, therefore, from the last sentence, too explicit and bold " to refer “only” to adventure comics; in any case, the whole statement does nothing other than praise the wonderful results achieved so far and, therefore, to repeat in any way.According to Alan Sepinwall (the Rolling Stones) this situation would lead, however, to restart the total of the series, starting creative from scratch. The celebrated critic also underlines that Netflix was not to anything happy with the creative decisions taken in the series, each one born from a final agreement “ill-conceived from the beginning”, considering the setting of the Marvel universe/Netflix as a sort of miniature reproduction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, for Sepinwall, the leaders have already reiterated many times as not they want the old series on Netflix on the streaming service, preferring new products are designed from the beginning for Disney+.

Waiting to find out more about what it really will be the future of the entire universe and the Marvel/Netflix now shattered (but easily rebuildable without Netflix) the cast members have expressed their disappointment and their sadness, once you have come to the knowledge of the news. There are some of the most significant:

I'm so sad that we won't be continuing this story. Mostly I'll miss seeing the friends I've made everyday. Thank you to every person who contributed to this series over the years. And to @erikoleson, because of you we are going out on a high. @Daredevil #Daredevil

Thanks to all those who have contributed to the creation of this series over the years. And especially to Erik Oleson, because thanks to you we arrived at the top”.

[email protected] @netflix canceled. Yet Daredevil is still out there blood stained high up, poised in the moonlight. Movement below him on the street. A flash of white moving through the sea of darkness Hell's Kitchen. This image folds into a black suburban screeching into the night.

“The series is cancelled. Yet Daredevil is always there in suspended stained with blood, under a full moon. Under him, the movements in the street, the noise. A beam of light that moves through the darkness of Hell's Kitchen. The image that closes with a suburb of the suburbs in the night.”

Heartbroken and surprised. But what a helluva way to go out! Thank you @stevendeknight and @erikoleson . I will miss Marci terribly but so proud to have played in your world. #Daredevil @Daredevil
